Hello! My name is Katherine Braught. I am from Bettendorf, Iowa and a senior studying computer science at Iowa State University. After being a bioinformatics major freshman year, I realized that I loved computer science after all the projects I did in my first coding class ever. I really enjoyed learning all the interesting syntax rules of Java and I loved all working through all the fun problems! In the summer after my freshman year, I had a bioinformatics research job at Auburn University and had the chance to teach myself Python and use it to work with DNA strings. After that, I realized that what I loved most about bioinformatics was coding so I decided that I wanted to become a computer science major! After completing my first software development internship at Workiva Inc., I am even more excited to pursue a career as software developer and continue learning.
